Accessibility statement
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible — including with a screen reader, using only a keyboard, at high magnification or with limited colour vision.
Scope
This statement applies to the website at www.brueckenterrassen.de including all its pages and the forms offered there for reservations, event enquiries and applications.
Status of compliance
The website was built to meet WCAG 2.1 at level AA (the benchmark referenced by EN 301 549). Based on our own review it is largely compliant. Among other things we have implemented:
- full keyboard operation with a focus indicator that is always visible
- magnification to 200% without loss of content or function; zooming is not blocked
- text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and at least 3:1 for large text
- a semantic structure with exactly one main heading per page and a skip link to the content
- alternative text for all informative images
- form fields with visible labels, and error messages as text rather than colour alone
- respect for the “reduce motion” system setting
- no information conveyed by colour alone and no content that starts automatically
We deliberately do not use an accessibility overlay. Such tools frequently cover barriers up rather than removing them.
Known limitations
- The map on the contact page is an image. The full address and directions are given as text alongside it.
- The menu as a PDF file is not prepared for accessibility. It is an additional offering — the full content is available as an HTML page.
- The gallery uses captions; some older photographs can only be described in general terms.
How this statement was prepared
This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out during the rebuild of the website. TODO(client): add the date of preparation and of the last review once the site is live.
TODO(client): state the number of employees and the order of magnitude of turnover so that it can be documented whether the micro-enterprise exemption in section 3(3) of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) applies. Regardless of that, the site is built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
